School cafeteria workers play a critical—and often under-recognized—role in the health of children. In partnership with the Monsanto Fund, INMED’s Crescer Saudavel (Growing Healthy) program has trained 115 school food preparers in Petrolina, Brazil in nutrition, hygiene, food safety and avoiding food waste (sustainability) with a focus on applying their new knowledge to enhance the nutritional quality of school meals. Each participant received a recipe book highlighting food hygiene and ways to prepare fresh produce from school gardens in an appealing way for young children.
