Community health workers (CHWs) in the Ucayali region of Peru are raising awareness about the prevention of cervical cancer after an in-depth training workshop by INMED Andes. The workshop is part of ongoing training that INMED is providing to these dedicated volunteers to improve the health and wellness of women and children in their communities. After receiving their certificates of completion, the CHWs will deliver educational workshops throughout the Ucayali region to inform women on steps they can take to protect themselves from the human papilloma virus as well as diagnosis and treatment options. Studies show that CHW training is a vital tool in reducing maternal and infant mortality rate.
