Meeting the Most Urgent Challenges Facing Children
Key Partners Join INMED at 25th Anniversary Symposium and Reception to Celebrate Past and Plan Future
Ashburn, VA, September 13, 2011 — On October 27, 2011, INMED Partnerships for Children will celebrate 25 years of rescuing children from harm and building strong leaders for the future. Yet the event, “Re-Charting the Future for Children and Youth,” will be more than a celebration, as INMED and its key partners look ahead to the greatest challenges facing children and the work that still needs to be done.
INMED is honored to have among the sponsors of the anniversary celebration the Freddie Mac Foundation, Johnson & Johnson, the Kraft Foods Foundation, the Monsanto Fund, PhRMA, Drs. Thad Jackson and Linda Pfeiffer, and Paul and Kathy Bosland.
INMED’s 25th anniversary event will be hosted at the Washington, D.C. residence of the Brazilian ambassador to the United States, His Excellency Ambassador Mauro Vieira. INMED is honored to have the embassy as a partner in this special celebration as a testament to its 18 years of work in Brazil, which has improved the health lives of more than 2 million children, their families and communities.
The event will feature a keynote presentation on “Meeting the Five Greatest Challenges Facing Children and Youth in the Next Decade” by Sir Richard Feachem, former Under-Secretary of the United Nations, founding executive director of The Global Fund, and current director of the Global Health Group at UCSF and UC Berkeley. Following the keynote presentation, leaders representing the health, food, agriculture and finance sectors will provide private-sector perspectives on partnership strategies for meeting those challenges.
Attendance is open to all who are interested in identifying the major development challenges facing children and youth, along with strategies and programs that will help INMED meet these challenges and continue to build strong leaders for the future.
