Last week, INMED South Africa installed a drip irrigation system under the newly installed shade canopy for the Pella Food Garden farming co-op, which is composed of five tenacious women, including Grandma Ester (pictured here with granddaughter Tassie). Temperatures last week exceeded 100 degrees F—hardly ideal conditions for farming. That didn’t stop the INMED team, or a curious onlooker, from forging ahead.
With the support of Old Mutual, INMED is installing a commercial-scale aquaponic system as well as training the co-op members in adaptive agriculture techniques. Stay tuned for more updates this week.
