cooking-demonstrationINMED’s South Africa team is being featured on in a series of segments on healthy lifestyles on Dtv, a morning show on the SABC2 network. The first segment, filmed at the Elias Motsoaledi Clinic in Orlando, focused on healthy eating and meal planning. INMED South Africa Program Coordinator Sandra Pretorius-Rivalland shared tips on how to prepare delicious, balanced meals, followed by a brief cooking demonstration. Sandra is a dietician/nutritionist who has been leading healthy eating educational sessions and cooking demos for a number of years in low-resource communities in collaboration with the City of Johannesburg and Department of Health.

More than 100 community members participated in the filming, including a group of “magogos” (grandmas), who want to start senior fitness classes at one of INMED’s Health in Action (HIA) schools. The magogos’ project will further INMED’s HIA objective of fostering greater community engagement in nutrition, fitness and healthy lifestyles. The series is schedule to air next spring.
