Our team at INMED Andes is expanding its efforts to promote aquaponics in the Ucayali region of Peru. Last week, INMED facilitated a class on the basics of aquaponics (a symbiotic combination of soilless crop production and fish farming) and its many benefits for students at Ivonis Mazzarolo School. In addition to learning the technical aspects of installation and maintenance, they also learned that aquaponics can be a profitable enterprise, can improve food security and is an effective community development tool.
