Graduation Gratitude!

Despite the improving economy, poverty and homelessness continue to increase in single-mother households. The descent into poverty is particularly distressing to parents and many mothers become so overwhelmed that they can’t find a way to stop the decline.

INMED Partnerships for Children is here to support such single mothers and struggling parents, by providing case managers to work with families who are on the brink of homelessness. These caring counselors provide parents with the knowledge, resources and support they need to stay in their homes and provide for their children.

INMED’s work does not go unnoticed by the children in these families, who are grateful to see the security and stability return to their home.

In this video, Dama Adbodgi, a single mother who just graduated from INMED’s homelessness prevention program in March, and her son both express their gratitude to INMED for the support they received. “When she had problems she didn’t know what to do about it,” Dama’s son says of his mom prior to receiving support from INMED. “…now if she has a problem she knows exactly where to go and I’m very thankful for that.”

INMED provided counselling in budgeting and access to support programs to assist Dama and her family financially, and also aided her in learning English, which helped her secure a full-time, better paying job.
