Gardening in South Africa

After a long drought, Motherwell Township in Port Elizabeth, South Africa finally got some rain. The students of INMED Health in Action school Enkwenkwezini Primary couldn’t wait to work in their school garden with INMED gardener Mrs. Matiwane. The children lovingly refer to her as “Gogo,” (aka Granny). Mrs. Matiwane is teaching the children the importance of permaculture, which includes crop rotation, inter-cropping, mulching and using natural mixtures to control pests without pesticides.
