INMED South Africa’s new program, called Break Time Buddies, is getting children and their teachers excited about physical fitness. A component of INMED’s Health in Action (HIA) program, Break Time Buddies works collaboratively with local school councils and tertiary institutions to recruit and train unemployed, out-of-school youth to lead fun physical education activities during daily recess time at HIA schools.
An increasingly popular activity is “Fun Day,” involving outdoor games and competitions to inspire joyful play and life-long physical activity. Our INMED SA team and staff of partner Mondelēz International Foundation chronicled some of this joy at a recent Fun Day at Paradise Bend Primary School in Diepsloot, Gauteng province. As you can see from this video of a sack race, our Break Time Buddies (in orange shirts) are enthusiastic cheerleaders for their teams.
