First Harvest of a Crescer Saudável School Garden in Petrolina, Brazil

Another first harvest of a Crescer Saudável school garden in Petrolina, Brazil. Children at N.S. Vó Engrácia preschool join their teacher, Maria Aparecida Maciel, to harvest the first lettuce, planted in late October. Débora, our Para Criancas program coordinator, is very proud of them! And we are very proud of Débora!

Criancas Saudavel is a partnership with the Monsanto Fund to establish vegetable gardens at 125 preschools, as well as provide nutrition education for children and resources for mothers, teachers, food preparers and local health professionals to help encourage long-term, healthy eating habits—both in schools and at home. The program is expected to benefit more than 58,000 people in Petrolina, including 33,000 children ages 6 months to 5 years. Learn more at www.paracriancas.org.br or inmed.org.
