Still Digging Out in Peru

The capital city of Lima was particularly hard hit by last week’s flooding. Communities are rallying to rebuild, but the effort is overwhelming. INMED is working in partnership with the national government to get critical medication to communities at risk of disease, particularly soil-transmitted helminths (parasitic worms). INMED’s Crescer Saudável (Growing Healthy) program

INMED International Programs Director Kristin Callahan shares some photos she has been taking during her time in Brazil to help launch INMED’s Crescer Saudável (Growing Healthy) program to promote early childhood nutrition in the city of Petrolina. In partnership with the Monsanto Fund, this 3-year, $3 million initiative will establish vegetable gardens at 125 preschools, as well as provide nutrition education for children and resources for mothers, teachers, food preparers and local health professionals to help encourage long-term, healthy eating habits—both in schools and at home. The program is being implemented by INMED Brasil.
